Ponca Pines Academy

Ponca Pines Academy is a gender-specific Residential Treatment Center developed exclusively for young women 16 to 19 years (in Nebraska, the age of majority is 19) who have the academic and intellectual ability to enter college. We focus on helping young women who have difficulties around adoption/attachment issues, mental health, substance use, academics and self-esteem, as well as other struggles adolescents experience.

We use current clinical information, youth history, collaborative records, prior testing, and parent and child interviews to ensure that the best possible care and services will be provided.

Loss of academic achievement, low self-esteem, low motivation, manipulation, oppositional behavior, poor impulse control, poor social skills, relationship difficulties, family conflict, self-destructive behaviors, substance use, sexually acting out, victim issues, grief and loss, adoption issues, attachment issues, trauma history

Anxiety Disorders, ADD/ADHD, Bipolar Disorders, Depressive Disorders, Learning Disorders, Pervasive Developmental Disorders: including Asperger’s Syndrome (but not autism), Personality Disorders: Avoidant, Borderline, Dependent and Histrionic, Substance Use Disorders (not warranting detoxification)

		Actively suicidal or homicidal
		Antisocial Personality Disorder
		Conduct Disorder – Severe
		Medically fragile or unstable
		Need for detoxification
		Physically aggressive outside of the home
		Pregnant
		Fire starters

The State of Nebraska is one of only a few states with an age of majority of 19. This allows us the unique opportunity to work with the older adolescent. Ponca Pines Academy can work with young women until their 19th birthday.

Ponca Pines Academy will conduct a thorough, comprehensive assessment beginning prior to admission. We use current clinical information, patient history, collaborative records, prior testing and several assessments to help create a student’s treatment plan.
